Complementary Therapies

Complimentary TherapyComplementary Therapies are techniques used to help promote a feeling of personal well - being. They are based on systems of healthcare practiced for thousands of years, and are considered to be among some of the original forms of medicine.

At Myton, we support the use of Complementary Therapies as part of the Specialist Palliative Care services we have on offer. They work alongside the other services that are described in this information folder. They can assist you with symptom control and quality of life issues, rather than the treatment of your disease.

The types of therapies we have to offer you include:

  • Simple hand and foot massage
  • Limited manicure / pedicure treatments
  • Relaxation sessions
  • Guided imagery / Visualisation
  • Massage techniques
  • Aromatherapy
  • Reflexology
  • Reiki

Our Complementary Therapy Service is available to you and your carer, and
also to our staff and volunteers. It is free of charge, but you may make a
donation to the Hospice if you wish.

If you would like to have a Complementary Therapy treatment, you can refer
yourself, your carer may do it for you, or your doctor or nurse can refer you,
to the Complementary Therapist Co-ordinator, based at Warwick Myton
Hospice.

Information about the types of therapies available are explained in the
booklet ‘Complementary Therapies at the Myton Hospice’. Please ask a
member of staff if you would like a copy. Please be aware that at times, some
of the services we offer may be limited by the availability of therapists, and
there may be a waiting list for appointment times.
The Complementary Therapist Co-ordinator will be able to advise you on
suitable complementary therapies for you.
If you would like more information about our Complementary Therapy
Service, please ask to speak to the Complementary Therapist Co-ordinator,
who will be happy to talk with you.
