One of the Academy’s rising stars puts football to one side as he cycles from Vietnam to Cambodia to fundraise…
Every charity relies on the generosity of others and the drive and commitment of those trying to raise money, and as Jack Burroughs (15-years old) is showing, age is simply a number when it comes to helping people.
Jack and his Mum, Jo, will be taking part in the Vietnam to Cambodia Cycle Challenge in October in aid of Myton Hospice, a charity close to the heart of the Burroughs family after Jack’s Grandmother sadly passed away.
Jack, who is part of the U16s academy set-up at the Sky Blues, was inspired when visiting a charity ball earlier on this year. Since that day, raising money and helping others less fortunate has been at the forefront of his mind.
The challenge will involve cycling 350km over a six-day period with the aim of raising a total of £6,000 between them – an amount they are, of course, hoping to surpass with the help of the Coventry City FC faithful.
Father, Steve, and Jo met almost twenty years ago at a Coventry City away day, visiting Highbury for a game against Arsenal. With Jack going into the Under-16s side and younger brother George into the Under-14s this season it is fair to say the Sky Blue colours run in their blood.
Jack and his family are appealing to the generous Sky Blue Army for their support and have set up a Just Giving page dedicated to the Cycle in the hope of raising the targeted amount. We would kindly ask any supporters able to make a donation do so, in aid of this tremendous cause.

Jack’s Mum, Jo Burroughs said: “When Jack came to me wanting to raise money for this cause I couldn’t let the opportunity slip away and we started planning straight away.
“The whole family has been associated with the club for many years and we can only hope some of the fan base can help us reach our target because it really is a cause we feel passionate about.”
