Reflections Bereavement Support Group

If someone close to you dies, it can be a very difficult and lonely experience.Even if you have many friends, it can sometimes feel as if no one really understands what you are going through.

If someone close to you dies, it can be a very difficult and lonely experience.Even if you have many friends, it can sometimes feel as if no one really understands what you are going through.

In addition to one to one counselling we also offer facilitated bereavement support groups at Warwick and Coventry.

The Reflections Bereavement Group offers an opportunity to meet with other people in similar circumstances who have experienced a recent loss and to talk about your feelings in a supportive environment.

Who is the group for?

Patients, relatives, friends and anyone who are connected to The Myton Hospices and have been bereaved within the last 12 months through a life-limiting illness.

How can the group help?

  • Allows members to express some of their thoughts and feelings and to receive support from other group members
  • Hearing other people’s experiences often reduces feelings of isolation
  • The group is facilitated by an experienced counsellor trained in Grief and Loss

What happens at the meeting?

  • One person speaks at a time – there is no pressure for you to talk, but there is an opportunity for everyone in the group to express their thoughts and opinions if they wish.
  • Non-judgemental – everybody has their own views and opinions so everyone speaks only for themselves. Everyone’s experience is unique and valuable.
  • Confidentiality – We try not to talk about anything that is said in the group outside of the group.
