Complementary Therapies

Complementary Therapies are becoming increasingly valued, and here at The Myton Hospices their use is supported as part of the Specialist Palliative Care services that we have to offer. Complementary Therapies should never be looked upon as a cure, neither do they replacemedical advice or conventional methods of treatment, but what they actually do is work alongside them in supporting the patient and their family.

Complementary Therapies are a combination of both ancient and modern techniques that can be used to:-
*      help promote a feeling of personal well-being
*      help relieve stress
*      aid relaxation
*      help develop self help/coping skills
*      assist with symptom control and quality of life issues
All Complementary Therapies in someway, are working with the body’s own natural energy and natural healing processes whether it is on a physical, emotional, psychological and/or spiritual level.
There are many research studies that demonstrate the positive role that complementary therapies have in symptom control and reducing side effects.
