Doctors at Myton Hospice

A team of doctors care for patients admitted to the Myton Hospices. The team is led by the Medical Director who is a Consultant in Palliative Medicine. The other doctors taking senior responsibility for the patients are Consultants in Palliative Medicine and an Associate Specialist. All these senior doctors have trained in Palliative Medicine and so are specialists in the field of Palliative Care. The senior medical team is supported by other doctors who are staff grade doctors, registrars training in Palliative Medicine and GP trainee doctors.
Doctors provide day to day care of inpatients, review patients attending outpatients and if there is a clinical need review patients attending Day Hospice.
A large part of the doctors’ role is providing telephone advice for other health care professionals contacting Myton Hospices.
Specialist Palliative Care education for other health care professionals is also important. Therefore the Myton doctors are actively involved with teaching in the form of educating visiting clinical staff attending the hospice on placement or facilitating tutorials, seminars and lectures externally to undergraduate and postgraduate staff.
