Volunteering
![]() |
Our volunteers are a highly respected and valuable part of the Hospice team, whether they work directly with patients in the in-patient unit or in the day hospices, or in one of our shops. Most of our Volunteers work one half-day shift a week but some do more and some do less. Call Louise Walters on 01926 492518 for information on volunteering. |
In the hospice duties vary from making and serving teas, arranging flowers, and taking round the library trolley. Volunteers are encouraged to work with the Diversional Therapist by helping with various arts and crafts, but even if you are not ‘arty’ there is always something you can do - just sitting chatting to patients is sometimes enough.
Volunteer drivers bring patients to and from the Day Hospices or, in exceptional circumstances, are on call to collect relatives who would otherwise be unable to visit our in-patients. Drivers use their own vehicles and are paid a mileage allowance.
The hospice is currently welcoming applications from people wishing to volunteer, in particular, in areas such as fundraising, driving, retail (shops) and warehouse to carry out a wide variety of tasks from collecting funds, driving patients, assisting with organisation of fundraising equipment and initiatives, helping with setting up events, sorting clothes and bric a brac to sell in one of our retail premises or perhaps serving customers in our shops.
We are also looking to recruit a wide range of volunteer skills for our new hospice at Coventry and welcome applications from people in all areas of the hospice from the In Patient Unit, Estates, Fundraising, Reception, Housekeeping and Complementary Therapists.
