Please welcome The Myton Hospices new CEO…

We are delighted to announce that Ruth Freeman has been appointed CEO of The Myton Hospices.

Ruth joined us in 2006 as Director of Fundraising and has been acting CEO since November 2015 when Kate Lee sadly left Myton to join CLIC Sargent after five successful years with us.

Ruth has over 30 years’ experience in the charity sector, having held the role of Head of Partnerships at the UK’s largest children’s charity, Barnardo’s, prior to joining Myton. With this outstanding record and her genuine understanding of how Myton operates following almost ten years with us, we are thrilled to have Ruth leading the implementation of Myton’s new five year strategy. This includes extending our reach within the community and ensuring that all the services and facilities we offer are used to maximum capacity.

Ruth comments: “I am thrilled to take on the role of CEO because I passionately believe in what we do and I am 100% committed to Myton’s future. I have invested so much in the organisation over the last nine years and am very proud of what we’ve managed to achieve.

I have a very clear vision for Myton; we must endeavour to understand the needs, preferences and wishes of all of the people who need palliative and end-of-life care across Coventry and Warwickshire – both now and in the future – so that we can develop services that are tailored to really meet their needs. We must extend our reach and ensure that wherever people live within our local community or whatever illness they are coping with, they have equal and early access to our services. To achieve all of this will require securing more support from the public and ensuring that all of our services are cost-effective and provide excellent value for money.

Chairman, Noel Hunter, adds: “We’re delighted to welcome Ruth to the key role of CEO at Myton. She has played a fundamental role in the Senior Leadership Team which has overseen many developments over the last nine years, and we’re very confident of her ability to embrace the opportunities and tackle the challenges that lie ahead for Myton.
