World Cancer Day is a global awareness campaign which takes place on 4th February every year to unite the world in the fight against cancer. Recent figures sadly show that 8.2 million people die from cancer worldwide every year.
World Cancer Day was founded by the Paris Charter at the World Summit Against Cancer for the New Millennium which took place in Paris on 4th February 2000. This Charter aims to promote and encourage research into the cure for cancer as well as identify ways in which the current services available can be upgraded for cancer patients.

This year, World Cancer Day has decided to launch a three year campaign entitled ‘We Can I Can’. The campaign aims to explore how every person has the power to reduce the impact cancer can have on individuals, families and communities. World Cancer Day provides each of us with the opportunity to reflect on what we can do to help unite against cancer and commit to doing it.
Here at The Myton Hospices, we are making a pledge for World Cancer Day. We will continue to support those who are living with cancer in Coventry and Warwickshire.
We strongly believe that everyone has the right to access high quality care and support and we urge anyone living with cancer in Coventry and Warwickshire to access the services we provide across all three of our hospices and in the community through our Myton at Home service.
We are here to support anyone in the area who has a terminal illness, such as cancer, and we are dedicated to providing the best support for both our patients and their families.
