  • This study day begins with an exploration of boundary issues between you and your patient/client. The rest of the day will be spent participating in a communication skills workshop with a difference. No role play involved!

    09:15 - 10:45 Managing Boundaries: Is it possible to care too much?


    Description: A short session on managing your professional boundaries
    Outcomes: On the session participants will explore:

    • What are boundaries?

    • Why do we need them?

    • What’s okay/ not okay?

    • Boundary violations

    • How do we use them?

    • How to set boundaries

    • What’s your responsibility?


    Target audience: Health and social care staff working with people with life limiting conditions.

    Facilitator – Dr Gemma Jones, Clinical Psychologist.


    11:00 - 16:30 "Real Talk" - How to have important conversations.


    A brand new, unique way to develop your communication skills, by analysing real-life conversations.

    • Explore how to respond to difficult questions.

    • Develop the skills needed to broach sensitive issues, such as discussing dying.

    • No role play involved!!!


    Target audience: Health and social care staff who wish to develop their communication skills.
