The Myton Hospices is proud to have been awarded Highly Commended in the Innovation and End-of-Life Social Care Award at this year’s Palliative and End of Life Care Awards.
Having been named finalists in two categories, including the Partnership Working Across Health & Social Care Award, Myton was recognised for its GP Information Clinics – an innovative initiative that brings specialist palliative care into local GP practices, helping people access support earlier in their illness and closer to home.
The awards ceremony, held in London and hosted by TV presenter Kate Garraway, celebrated excellence and innovation in palliative and end of life care from across the UK.
Developed in partnership with Primary Care Networks, the GP Information Clinics provide patients and their families with timely information, advice and support in the familiar surroundings of their GP practice. The clinics also strengthen collaboration between primary care and hospice services, making it easier for healthcare professionals to identify and refer people who could benefit from specialist palliative care.
The Highly Commended award recognises Myton’s commitment to improving access to hospice care, ensuring more people receive the right support at the right time.
Olivia Bowskill, Community Engagement Manager and Registered Nurse at The Myton Hospices, said:
We are incredibly proud to receive this recognition. Our GP Information Clinics were created to help people access information and support earlier, in a setting where they already feel comfortable and supported.
We know that many people are unsure about what hospice care involves, and these clinics give us the opportunity to have those conversations sooner, answer questions and help people understand the support available to them.
This award reflects the dedication of our teams and the fantastic collaboration with our GP partners, helping more people and their families access specialist palliative care when they need it most. We’re excited to continue developing this approach to reach even more people across our communities.
We would like to thank everyone involved in developing and delivering the GP Information Clinics, as well as our GP partners for their continued collaboration, support and shared commitment to improving end of life care across Coventry and Warwickshire
