Patient, Family and Carer Support Phone Line

We are excited to announce that we have launched a new patient, family and carer telephone support line.

In collaboration with Marie Curie, the Support Line will provide practical or clinical information and/or emotional support for people living with or caring for someone who has a life-limiting illness or is experiencing bereavement.

The service is available to patients, carers and their families who visit our website for advice and support, as well as those that are known to or have been referred by The Myton Hospices.

The service is accessed by a dedicated telephone number:

  • Monday – Friday 8am – 6pm (bank holidays 10am -2pm)
  • Saturday 10am – 4pm

Any calls taken out of hours or at the weekends will be picked up again by a trained member of the team on the next working day. During the opening hours, most calls will be returned within the day.

The Support Line team is a multi-disciplinary team of trained information and support officers, registered nurses, bereavement support specialists and trained volunteers.

Do the support line team offer medical advice?

Our Information and Support nurses and officers are not a substitute for professional care from the NHS or other providers; they won't have access to your medical record and won't be able to discuss the actual treatment or care that you or your loved one is currently receiving.

We can only provide clinical information and support, they won't give specific advice or opinions, either medical or personal.

If you're looking for specific advice about your treatment or care, or need emergency assistance, we recommend you contact your local medical professional or service.

Are the calls confidential?

Anything discussed will remain confidential, unless there is a risk of serious harm to you or others.

Should the Support Line Officer feel you would benefit from speaking directly to a member of the Myton team, the Support Line Officer will ask for your permission to transfer your call to the relevant Myton service.

Can I call regarding fundraising or any other Myton queries?

No, please do not call this number.
