The Butterfly Effect FAQs

Back to The Butterfly effect

What is The Butterfly Effect?

We passionately believe that everyone matters for every single moment of their life and, by supporting each other, we can create something amazing – this belief is at the heart of everything we do. It’s our very own butterfly effect.

Taking place between Friday 26th July and Sunday 11th August the installation will see more than 1,000 locally crafted, red, metal butterflies on the bank of the river at Coughton Court, National Trust property.

Each butterfly will represent a loved one who is sadly no longer with us and we invite you to make a dedication of your own and donate to The Myton Hospices in return for your very own butterfly, so that you can take home a small part of this poignant display.

What is the deadline for taking part in The Butterfly Effect?

The Butterflies are limited edition so we’d encourage you to place your order as soon as possible. As long as we haven’t sold out we are able to take orders up until Sunday 11th August 2024.

What are the butterflies made from?

The butterflies have been locally crafted by GWE Ltd in Warwick, they are made of steel.

What is the suggested donation?

Based on the cost to Myton of producing the Butterflies we suggest a minimum donation amount of £30 but you can donate as much as you like.

Will my butterfly be personalised?

Please note, that the Butterflies on display will not be personalised but will instead represent someone special. They have been hand crafted locally and are made of steel and powder coated red to ensure they are a long-lasting tribute. It’s important to note however, that after some time outdoors they may start to tarnish.

When is the installation taking place and can I visit?

Please note that you will need your unique reference number that will be posted to you for you to enter Coughton Court.

Butterflies will be in place from Friday 26th July until Sunday 11th August located on the bank of the river Coughton Court, National Trust property.

Staff and volunteers from Myton will be there between 11am and 3pm daily, should you have any questions or wish to speak to someone.

The display will be in place until 5pm on Sunday 11th August.

Please note:

  • Coughton Court is open 11am – 5pm daily, except Mondays.
  • There is an accessible route to the installation but please check the property website for full accessibility details.
  • Whilst dogs are allowed at the property and there are dog walks where you can view the installation from they are not allowed in the formal gardens where the installation itself is located. Please check the property website for more information about bringing dogs.
