Over £37,000 raised at this year’s Virtual Cycle Challenge

It wasn’t how we planned on celebrating the tenth year of our Cycle Challenge, but everyone who took part certainly helped to make it a memorable event!

The Coronavirus pandemic has meant we aren’t able to hold mass participation events like our popular Cycle Challenge, but that didn’t stop over 100 supporters of all ages completing their own Virtual Cycle Challenge in aid of Myton.

We gave people the option to choose from a variety of distances, or to set their own, and 112 people took up the challenge, raising over £37,000 for Myton!

Acting Events Manager, Rebecca Richards, said:

This year would have been our 10th annual Cycle Challenge and we were devastated we couldn’t celebrate this milestone with our loyal supporters or that we couldn’t bring this event to you physically.

However, we were over the moon with the support our Virtual Cycle Challenge received and we cannot thank each participant enough for their amazing fundraising efforts. What an incredible team of supporters we have!

Every year we need to raise £9.2 million of the £12 million we need to support the people of Coventry and Warwickshire.

Due to the impact Coronavirus has had on our ability to raise vital funds we expect to see a significant drop in voluntary income of somewhere in the region of £2 million this year.

Now more than ever we need your help to ensure we can continue providing our services free of charge for those who need us most, during the Coronavirus outbreak and in the future.

If you missed out on the Cycle Challenge but still want to fundraise for Myton, why not take on your own challenge or have a look at some of our upcoming virtual events here.

Your support is vital – we can’t do it without you – thank you!
