We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who joined #TeamMyton for this year’s Walk for Myton and helped make it a record-breaking year.
We were thrilled to welcome over 660 supporters, who took on their chosen route alongside friends, family and four-legged companions, all while raising vital funds for The Myton Hospices.
We’re delighted to announce that £94,362 has been raised – with even more sponsorship still to come in!
We genuinely can’t thank you enough for your support. Your fundraising will help us continue providing expert, compassionate palliative and end of life care to people living with life-limiting illnesses, and their families, across Coventry and Warwickshire, when they need it most.
Natalie Walker, Events and Campaigns Manager at The Myton Hospices, said:
It was fantastic to see so many people come together for this year’s Walk for Myton. The atmosphere throughout the day was brilliant, and it was a real pleasure to meet so many of our supporters and hear the different reasons why they were taking part. To have already raised £94,360 and broken our previous fundraising record is an incredible achievement, and we’re so grateful to everyone who helped make this year’s event such a success.
Of course, none of this would have been possible without some truly brilliant people who helped make the day happen.
A huge thank you goes to Ed from The Engine Inn, Kenilworth, who worked tirelessly to prepare the BBQ for everyone to enjoy after their walk.
A special thank you goes to our photographers Jemma, Penny, Liz, Peter Minshaw, Peter Realf and Dylan, who captured so many wonderful memories from the day. We’re also incredibly grateful to Rob from RT Sky Vision for providing drone coverage of the event.
See if you can spot yourself in the gallery below!
We were also treated to fantastic entertainment from Harmoneers Choir, Transition and Who Let the Ukes Out, who helped keep spirits high throughout the event, along with Annette, Felicity and Kris who performed at our Glass House Jefferson Garden break stop.
Thank you to Mark’s Ices for providing some well-earned ice cream at the finish line, and to Warwick Children’s Services and Myton School for kindly allowing us to use their car parks.
We’re also grateful to Warwick District Council and all of the local supermarkets that generously donated refreshments to help keep our walkers fuelled along the route. Thank you to our lovely volunteer bakers and Margaret’s Country Kitchen Bakers, Bakers Dozen and Dawn Foods who generously donated home baked goods.
We want to say a big thank you to Taylor Wimpey who kindly sponsored our Break Stop, and to Fyffes for donating bananas for our break stop for our walkers to enjoy.
And last, but by no means least, we want to recognise our incredible volunteers, both at Warwick Myton Hospice and out on the route. From marshalling and cheering walkers on to keeping everyone fed and hydrated, they played a vital role in making sure the day ran smoothly from start to finish.
Every penny raised will help us continue providing specialist hospice care to people living with life-limiting illnesses, and their families, across Coventry and Warwickshire.
It costs more than £15 million every year to provide our services free of charge to our patients and their loved ones. We are a charity, not the NHS, and less than 20% of our funding comes from the NHS. This means we need to raise more than £12 million this year to continue providing our vital services.
Your support really does make a difference.
From everyone at The Myton Hospices, our patients and their families – thank you for helping make this a record-breaking Walk for Myton!
We hope to see you at another Myton event soon!
