The Myton Hospices has received an incredible £20,000 donation following this year's Legends Golf Day, organised by Legends Global, helping to fund vital hospice care across Coventry and Warwickshire.
Held at The Belfry Hotel & Resort on Thursday 25th June, the first-ever Legends Golf Day welcomed 35 teams for a memorable day of golf, including The Myton Fairway Finders, a team made up of four Myton volunteers.
Despite soaring temperatures, players, sponsors and supporters enjoyed a fantastic day, raising vital funds for charity. Following the success of its inaugural year, organisers hope to make the Legends Golf Day an annual event in support of The Myton Hospices and other causes.
We were proud to be one of the event's chosen beneficiaries thanks to our valued partnership with Make Good Grow at 1 Mill St. We are incredibly grateful to Alan Graham, Founder of Legends Global, and Nigel Shanahan, Founder of 1 Mill St and Make Good Grow, whose generosity and commitment helped make the partnership possible.
Guests also had the opportunity to hear from a host of sporting legends, including football icons Les Ferdinand, Glenn Hoddle and Osvaldo Ardiles, who shared stories from their careers during a lively Q&A session.
Throughout the day, members of The Myton Hospices team supported the event by serving refreshments around the course and judging the hole-in-one competitions, before joining guests for an evening dinner and live auction hosted by Jonny Gould.
The £20,000 raised could fund an inpatient bed at Myton for 45 days, enabling us to continue providing expert, compassionate care and support to our patients and their families when they need it most.
Ruth Freeman, Chief Executive of The Myton Hospices, said:
On behalf of everyone at The Myton Hospices, I would like to say a huge thank you to Alan Graham, Legends Global, Nigel Shanahan, Make Good Grow and 1 Mill St, and everyone who took part in or supported this fantastic event.
Partnerships like this are incredibly important to us. The generosity shown by everyone involved will make a real difference, helping us continue to provide specialist care and support to people across Coventry and Warwickshire at the most difficult times in their lives.
It costs over £15 million every year to provide our services free of charge to our patients and their loved ones. As a charity, with less than 20% of our funding coming from the NHS, we rely on the generosity of our local community, supporters and corporate partners to raise more than £12 million this year.
