Warwick Dragon Boat Festival is taking place on Sunday 24th September

The annual charity event hosted by The Rotary Club of Warwick Avon raises vital funds for The Myton Hospices and Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Teams of up to 16 are invited to take part, have fun and raise money for two great causes.

Why not pull your friends together or convince your work colleagues and race on the river Avon at St. Nicholas Park.

Costing £400 per team, each competitor is encouraged to raise as much sponsorship as they can. Funds raised will be split 80% to The Myton Hospices and 20% to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

With Warwick Boats as partner, all equipment and a safety briefing will be provided, and participants must be able to swim.

Each boat can accommodate 16 rowers plus a drummer, teams of over 17 are allowed to sign up allowing you to rotate your members over the three heats. Warwick Boats will provide trained and experienced helmsmen.

For those of you who would like to brush up on your performance, practice sessions can be arranged by Warwick Boats.

Up to 26 teams can take part, with each team having three races over the 200 metre course. The four fastest teams will then battle it out to be crowned the winners.

Fancy dress is strongly encouraged with an award up for grabs for the “Best Dressed” team.

If you are interested in signing up yourself, your friends or your colleagues, email organiser Norman Byrne.
