We invite you to join us this December to remember and celebrate the lives of those we have loved and lost.
In return for a donation, you can dedicate a light on one of our Christmas trees in memory of someone special to you. Everyone is welcome, you don't need to have a connection to Myton to join us.
During our services, the names of loved ones are projected on screen as we come together by candlelight. Your dedication is a meaningful way to remember someone important to you while helping The Myton Hospices be there for more patients and families when they need us.

A special time to remember together
Our services include musical performances by local schools, choirs and brass bands, alongside readings and special words from members of the Myton team and our volunteers. Complimentary light refreshments will also be available.

Dan's story
One more Christmas together
Dan was just 38 when he died at Warwick Myton Hospice in January 2024. He had been diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis when he was 26 and later developed cancer.
When Dan's health declined, he and his wife Kat knew they didn't want him to die at home. Myton offered Dan a bed on Christmas Day, but the family asked if they could spend one more Christmas Day together at home before he was admitted on Boxing Day.
“Christmas will always be a time that brings back so many memories of Dan for our family. I'm incredibly grateful that, thanks to Myton, we were able to make one more special Christmas memory together and continue traditions that meant so much to us all.”

At Myton, Dan and his family were able to spend their time together in the way that mattered to them. Family visited, Dan and his son Matt played Xbox together, they watched Christmas films and even went to a concert at Birmingham Symphony Hall.

It costs more than £15 million each year to provide our services free of charge to our patients and their loved ones.
Every donation made through Light Up A Life helps The Myton Hospices provide specialist palliative and end of life care and support free of charge to patients and their loved ones across Coventry and Warwickshire.
Here are just some of the ways your support could help:

could fund our Myton at Home service for a patient for one day.
could fund an Inpatient Bed for one day.
could fund the running of our Rugby Myton Support Hub for one week.

If you can't come to a Light Up A Life service, you can still make a dedication and take a quiet moment at home to remember someone special.
Once you've completed your dedication, you'll also have the opportunity to leave a memory on our online Memory Wall, creating another lasting place to share your thoughts and memories.

Light Up A Life FAQs
Who can I remember at Light Up A Life?
Anyone. Light Up A Life is open to everyone who would like to remember someone they have loved and lost. Your loved one does not need to have been cared for by The Myton Hospices.
Do I have to attend a service to make a dedication?
No. You can make a dedication even if you're unable to attend one of our services. You can take a moment to remember your loved one at home and tie your remembrance tag to your own Christmas tree.
What happens at a Light Up A Life service?
Each service takes place outside and lasts approximately 40 minutes. There will be music, readings and special words from members of the Myton team and volunteers. The names of loved ones are projected on screen as the service takes place by candlelight, and complimentary light refreshments are available.
What will I receive after making a dedication?
You will receive a card and remembrance tag in the post. If you donate £40 or more, you can also choose either a limited edition Star Pin Badge or Wooden Photo Frame Tree Decoration, subject to availability.
When do postal dedications need to arrive?
If you're making your dedication by post and would like your loved one's name displayed during the service, we must receive your form no later than Friday 27th November.
What happens when a service dedication deadline has passed?
We need time before each service to prepare the names and dedications. Once the deadline for a service has passed, that service will no longer be available to select on our online dedication form. Any other services that are still open will continue to appear.
Can I make a donation without displaying my loved one's name?
Yes. You can choose to make a donation without including your loved one's name.
