We are delighted to be holding our Light Up A Life service at each of our three hospices this year...

Each year, we come together at Light Up A Life to remember those we have lost. Whether you wish to remember a loved one or simply show your support to The Myton Hospices, you can dedicate a light on our Christmas tree with a donation.

You will help light up the hospices this Christmas and ensure we can be there for more people when they need us most, now and in the future.

On the evening there is also a screen that projects the names of loved ones as the service takes place, lit by candlelight.

All the events take place outside and last approximately 30-40 minutes; everyone is welcome to attend. The services are led by our team and include festive carols and light refreshments.

Whether this is the first or twentieth time you are attending Light Up A Life, know that by dedicating a light on the tree you are not only remembering those special to you, you are also generously supporting others.

Light Up A Life takes place on the following dates:

Coventry Myton Hospice – Sunday 1st December 5pm

Rugby Myton Support Hub – Friday 6th December 7pm

Warwick Myton Hospice – Sunday 8th December 6pm

The Myton Hospices - Light up a Life - Sheena Odell

Your support will help ensure we can support more people like Scott and his family...

My name is Sheena Odell-Pace and my son, Scott Pace, died at Coventry Myton Hospice on Sunday 7th January 2024 after being cared for by the wonderful team at The Myton Hospices over the Christmas period. He was just 30 years old.

I am proud to be part of this year’s Light Up A Life campaign to continue Scott’s legacy at a time that means so much to us as a family.

Scott was admitted to hospital on 1st November 2023 with jaundice and four days later he was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer that had already spread to his liver with small lesions on both his lungs.

Due to the toxins in his body from his liver, he couldn’t receive chemotherapy or radiotherapy.

After almost two months in hospital, we were unsure how long Scott would be with us but the main goal was to keep him as pain free and comfortable as possible.

Myton was mentioned, and initially Scott didn’t want to go as he thought it was where old people went to die.

His brother Alex and a friend took him from the hospital to the entrance of Coventry Myton Hospice in a wheelchair and looked at the virtual tour of Myton on the website. Whilst they were outside, Scott said he would be happy to go there for Christmas.

Scott was then admitted to Coventry Myton Hospice on 23rd December, just two days before Christmas Day.

I am so relieved Scott said yes to Myton. They gave us a place to be with Scott when he was too poorly to come home and we felt so welcome from the first evening we arrived.
