Too many people on the waiting list for a Hospice Bed at Myton will die before they can access one

Thanks to your incredible generosity in supporting our Urgent Appeal last year, we were able to open five additional Hospice Beds – enabling us to care for more patients, and their loved ones, when they needed us most.

We are truly grateful! Your support has made a real and lasting difference to the lives of so many people in our local community.

Sadly, the challenges we face are ongoing...

  • Rising costs: Government increases to National Insurance and the minimum wage, announced after our Urgent Appeal, have added an unexpected £190,000 to our costs this year alone.

  • High demand: We continue to see a waiting list for our hospice beds on most days.

  • A national crisis: Hospices across the UK are being forced to cut services due to underfunding. Like many, we are lobbying for urgent reform to protect specialist palliative and end of life care.

  • Staffing pressures: Long-term sickness in our clinical teams is making it difficult to keep all our beds open consistently.

Please Donate Today!

Despite all of this, we remain fully committed to keeping our services running and supporting as many people as possible – but we cannot do it without your help.

This year, we need to raise £12.7 million to continue providing our expert care free of charge – that’s more than £1 million every single month!

As the only provider of hospice inpatient beds in Coventry and Warwickshire, your support is vital.

Tragically, there are still too many patients dying before a Hospice Bed becomes available.

To ease staffing pressures, we’ve redeployed two of our Clinical Education Nurses to support our Inpatient Units – an approach that proved effective during the Covid-19 pandemic.

We’re also hoping to recruit two additional nurses to strengthen our team as we look ahead and prepare for the added pressures of winter.

You’ve helped us achieve so much and we know how fortunate we are to have your support.

We hope you don’t mind us asking for your help again. If you’re able to, please consider making a donation today or setting up a regular monthly gift.

Every donation, no matter the size, helps us care for more people when they need us most, now and in the future.

Your support will help us care for more people like Katie and her family...

The Myton Hospices - Katie's Story

Katie was admitted to Warwick Myton Hospice in April 2023 for end of life care after her cervical cancer diagnosis in February 2022. Katie’s husband, Tom, told us the difference the care and support Katie and the family received made to them all...

In these situations, and the one we found ourselves in, nothing you can do can ever make it better and the best outcome is to never need Myton.

But Myton truly is the best place to be for everyone and I can’t imagine anywhere else doing a better job. The incredible doctors, nurses, volunteers and everyone involved took some of the pressure and angst out of the situation.

Do something amazing and donate Today!

Thank you – from all of us at Myton, and from the patients and families whose lives you touch through your kindness and ongoing support.

Together, we can ensure The Myton Hospices is here for everyone, now and forever.
