The Butterfly Effect FAQs

Back to The Butterfly effect

What is The Butterfly Effect?

We passionately believe that everyone matters for every single moment of their life and, by supporting each other, we can create something amazing – this belief is at the heart of everything we do. It’s our very own butterfly effect.

This October, The Myton Hospices will be celebrating the lives of loved ones in a unique and wonderful way. The Butterfly Effect will take flight at Coventry Broadgate and Warwick Market Square with an incredible light installation featuring over 1,000 images of loved ones coming together as one Myton Butterfly.

How can I take part?

There are many ways you can get involved, the most obvious being to donate to The Myton Hospices and submit a photo of your loved one to be included in the light projection. There is no set donation amount but if you donate £30 or more you will receive a limited edition metal hanging butterfly as a keepsake.

As with The Butterfly Effect, every act of support joins together to make a greater difference.

We have to raise £7.8 million this year to continue supporting families that need us across Coventry and Warwickshire. Even if you choose not to submit a photo, you can still make a donation and all donations of any amount will be gratefully received.

What is the deadline for taking part in The Butterfly Effect?

There are a limited number of photographs that we can include in the installation and a limited number of metal Myton butterflies in production. Please act quickly to avoid disappointment. The closing date for registrations with submission of photographs for inclusion in the installation is 20th September 2021 unless we reach capacity before this date.

People can still make a donation after this date, however it will no longer be possible to submit a photo.

What are the butterflies made from?

The butterflies have been locally crafted by GWE Ltd in Warwick, they are made of steel.

Who is eligible for a butterfly keepsake?

Anyone who contributes £30 or more to the campaign will receive a single limited edition metal hanging butterfly, subject to availability (we have a limited stock of 1,500)

Will my butterfly be personalised?

The butterflies won’t be personalised and it is not possible to have them engraved, this would damage the coating.

You can add a photo, name and a message to our online memory wall here.

When is the light installation taking place and can I visit?

The Butterfly Effect light installation will take place at the following:

14th – 16th October from 6 pm – 9 pm at Broadgate, Coventry

17th – 19th October from 6 pm – 9 pm at Shire Hall, Warwick

Everyone is welcome to visit, there will be live entertainment as well as refreshments and merchandise to buy on the night.

Please note the light installation will be live from 6pm – 9pm on the dates and locations given but visibility may be better after 7pm. You may not be able to clearly identify the photograph of your loved one but they will form part of the beautiful installation. There will be musical entertainment each evening in celebration of your loved ones and the opportunity to talk to members of the Myton team.

When would I receive my butterfly at home if I donate £30 or more?

All Butterflies should be received by the end of November.

Thank you cards

Everyone who makes a donation to the campaign will receive a card featuring the installation as a lasting reminder. This and any metal butterflies will be delivered by the end of November 2021.
