We would not be able to provide the services that we do without our invaluable team of more than 1,000 volunteers.
We are often told that volunteering is a way of giving something back.
Don't just take our word for it, see what our amazing volunteers have to say...
Ally, complementary therapy volunteer
Volunteering at Myton could be one of the best things you ever do, for me it has been a really transformational experience and one of the most fulfilling things that I have ever done. The day that I volunteer at Myton is always the best day of my week.
Carol, shop volunteer
While volunteering at Myton I feel I am contributing to a good cause and that my efforts help to make a difference. I feel I am in some way making a contribution to the lives of others in greater need than myself. I have met many interesting and great characters in my fellow volunteers, who have enriched my life. It is a very rewarding experience.
Morsal, volunteer on the Inpatient Unit
Myton has changed my perspective on volunteering as it has made me feel more open to becoming a volunteer in the future and helping out where I can. All the staff I meet are highly supportive and very welcoming. I made the decision to volunteer at Myton as I witnessed the extent of care that a family member received whilst in a hospice, and how much difference the volunteers made in maximising his quality of life. Initially I was slightly apprehensive as I wasn’t sure how I would cope emotionally, but by the time I had completed my first shift I realised it was one of the most rewarding experiences. It’s a great way to provide support and compassion and provides you with the opportunity to enhance your confidence.
Hazel, reception volunteer
I feel that I am making a difference to people’s lives and that I am giving something back to the community. I have also met some lovely people along the way.
