Volunteering in retail

Our Drive Thru Donations Events allow people to bring large volumes of donations to our hospice sites at pre-arranged events. 

Our volunteers help to receive and sort the donations, ready to go out for sale in our shops.  This role is based outdoors and requires an element of lifting and carrying.

If you have experience of selling on online platforms, a good basic level of IT skills and would like to contribute to a fantastic cause, this role is for you!

Our eCommerce volunteers, list items for sale, photograph items, research prices and package sold items to send to customers.  No one day is the same in this role, with many weird and wonderful donations to explore!

We need open, friendly and efficient volunteers to help arrange for collections or deliveries from The Myton Hospices Shops.

No previous experience needed, as you will receive full training before starting, and ongoing support from our helpful retail teams.

This is a varied role with the opportunity to develop your skills in a wide range of tasks, based around retail operations and administration. 

The New Goods Administrator provides administration support to assist the operational delivery of new goods to our network of 25 shops across the county. 

Although a weekly role is available there will be certain seasonal campaigns where we may need extra support.

Are you good with electricals, or have an interest in electrical gadgets? Do you want to help the environment?

This voluntary role could be for you! Our Portable Appliance Testers ensure all our donated electrical items are fully functional and safe for sale.

You’ll receive detailed training before starting and receive ongoing support from the retail team. No previous experience is needed.

As a retail & till volunteer you will get training in all areas of charity retail and ongoing support in your new role. You will be making such a difference in the community and to Myton.

There is something for everyone from behind the scenes sorting donations and pricing, to on the shop floor helping customers and serving on the till.  You may even pick up a bargain too.

The success of any shop is through the maximisation of sales of our donated goods. 

Van Buddy’s play an essential role in maximising the goods donated to our shops, by accompanying our van drivers to pick up donations from people’s homes.  This role requires some heavy lifting and carrying, as donations tend to be larger furniture items or large quantities of clothing and books.

Buying your wedding dress is such an emotional purchase, and this role requires a level of emotional maturity and an empathetic approach to assist a bride in her journey to selecting the perfect dress!

If you are confident and creative in your approach to sales and would love to play a small part in making someone’s special day perfect, this could be the role for you.
