On Sunday 22nd December, our wonderful nurses and nursing assistants at Coventry Myton Hospice hosted a Winter Wonderland for patients, families, volunteers and staff to enjoy, creating a truly magical experience full of festive joy and making precious memories.
The day featured Santa’s Grotto, and we would like to say a huge thank you to Chris from our fundraising team for organising Santa’s visit. Making time before the big day, Santa brought smiles and laughter to everyone who stopped by, spreading festive cheer throughout our Inpatient Unit.
The atmosphere was made even more magical thanks to the talented performers from the Salvation Army, who filled the air with festive tunes in the afternoon. Their music created the perfect soundtrack to our Winter Wonderland, and we cannot thank them enough for their time and talent.
Presents were handed out to our patients and children were treated to goodie bags filled with sweets and gifts, which had been lovingly prepared by our team.
Families enjoyed capturing special moments using the festive winter-themed photo opportunities, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come. The children were particularly excited to meet a very special guest – a friendly donkey, named Sheila, who brought extra joy and excitement to the day.
Our cakes, raffle, and drinks station, serving hot chocolate and mulled wine, were a big hit with everyone who attended. We are especially grateful for the donations made, which will help us continue to care for more people and their families, now and in the future.
Kerry Merry, Senior Staff Nurse at Coventry Myton Hospice, said:
It was so lovely to spend this day with our patients and their families, at a time that is focused on family, spending time with loved ones and making memories. We hope the day brought a smile to everyone’s faces and will be remembered for a lifetime. I would like to say a big thank you to our wonderful team of nurses and to everyone who contributed to make it a wonderful Winter Wonderland.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make it happen – thank you! And thank you to everyone who joined us to make Winter Wonderland a day to remember this Christmas and beyond.
