Andy took on a 24-hour golf challenge to raise vital funds for The Myton Hospices

Taking on a full 24 hours of continuous golf, including carrying his own bag and walking every step of the way, Andy, who is a PGA Professional, set himself a big challenge to push his limits whilst raising vital funds for The Myton Hospices. Andy said:

The classic 72-hole challenge was always on my radar, but I thought, let’s go a little more… extreme!

From the first tee-off to the final putt, Andy’s challenge tested his physical endurance, mental resilience and determination. Andy added:

Of course with a 24 hour golf challenge comes playing throughout the night, but it was definitely unforgettable. I am incredibly grateful to everyone who joined me overnight. We had music playing, lights illuminating the fairways, and neon golf balls guiding our way. At times, we even had to navigate around sprinklers! The night sky was beautiful and the atmosphere was truly special – it felt like a party on the golf course!

However, the challenge didn’t go without difficulties. Andy continued:

The most demanding moment came around 3am. It was freezing, completely dark, and I had already covered approximately 45km. Physically, I was exhausted, and the thought of stopping crossed my mind. But thanks to my incredible support team, who kept my morale high and energy levels up, I was able to push through.

Andy’s challenge raised an incredible £816 for Myton!

I am so proud to raise money for Myton. This challenge was always about more than endurance. The Myton Hospices provided exceptional care to a family member, and I wanted to give back in any way I could.

Claire McDowell, Coventry Fundraising and Front of House Lead, said:

Everyone at Myton is incredibly grateful to Andy and all his supporters for taking on such a demanding challenge to raise vital funds. With the help of people like Andy, we can continue providing our care free of charge to people and their families across Coventry and Warwickshire.
