Because of your support, we have been able to buy two Cuddle Beds!

We did it! Thanks to your fundraising and generosity, as well as a donation from the Morrisons Foundation, we have been able to fund two Cuddle Beds, now in situ at our Coventry and Warwick Hospices.

Cuddle Beds are a very special type of Hospice bed, folding out to enable a patient’s loved ones to lie alongside them – just as they would in a traditional double bed – and give them the most special of cuddles at a time they need it most.

Over the festive period, we asked businesses, schools and local communities to host Festive Fun Days to raise the funds needed for a Cuddle Bed.

Ranging from Christmas jumper days to Christmas quizzes, and festive bake sales to selling ‘Reindeer Food’, Festive Fun Days proved to be a massive fundraising hit! Thank you to everyone who organised, took part and donated to one of these events!

Donations were also pouring in from our festive community fundraising too, with our bucket collectors raising thousands at the Royal Spa Centre’s pantomime. We’d like to say a big thank you to Warwick District Council and the Royal Spa Centre for selecting Myton as their chosen Charity of the Year, and our amazing volunteers and everyone who donated at the shows!

The response was incredible and, thanks to your amazing support, we were able to raise the funds for a Cuddle Bed.

The Morrisons Foundation also kindly donated the funds for a Cuddle Bed enabling us to have one on each of our Inpatient Units at Coventry and Warwick. Patients and their loved ones are already using the new beds to enjoy special moments and create precious memories – thanks to your incredible support!

Less than a week after the Cuddle Bed arrived at Warwick Myton Hospice it was being used by a patient and his young grandchildren – the family told us just how special it was to be able to capture some precious photos and have memories to last a lifetime.

Tracie Beechey, Deputy Ward Manager at Warwick Myton Hospice said:

We would like to say a huge thank you to the Morrisons Foundation and to all of our generous supporters who helped to fund two Cuddle Bed for our patients and their families.

A Cuddle Bed can be expanded widthways so that families can knock down the physical barrier of being close to their loved one, they can lay next to each other and cuddle up without causing any discomfort.

We believe the need for physical touch heightens as people grow more unwell so anything we can do to help facilitate those special moments is so important.

We pride ourselves on giving our patients quality time with their loved ones and providing a compassionate approach to end-of-life care – these cuddle beds really will make a big difference.

Thank you!
