Many people want to involve loved ones in the special moments in their life, even when they are no longer alive.

Cara Ismay Poole and her husband Rich found the perfect way to remember Cara’s mum Alison at their wedding; they used The Myton Hospice’s Butterfly pin badges as favours for their wedding guests and made a donation to Myton for each badge.

What Cara wanted to do...

Alison was cared for, and sadly died, at our Warwick Hospice in 2004. Cara wanted to include her mum in her special day, with a nod to Myton.

She said:

It was a bit different, and meant we were doing something for charity too. We had a bit of mum with us. We also managed to raise over £1,400 in donations on the day too; the director of service spontaneously said we were going to have a collection for Myton! It was a lovely but also bittersweet.

Working together...

Our In Memory team and Graphic Designer worked with Cara to create a personalised message on each of the cards the pin badges were on – and tried to complement their colour theme!
