In July, Manny Chowdry, Gary Baird and DadsVDads Football organised a charity football match at Aylesford School. A group of 26 passionate players took to the pitch for a friendly game, all with one shared goal – to raise as much money as possible for Myton.
Manny has a personal connection to Myton, after his sister, Nasra, was cared for by our Myton at Home team in 2023. Manny said:
I was born and bred in Warwickshire but didn’t know the full breadth of Myton services. What we as a family went through with my sister really blew me away. The care that was provided to Nasra was second to none and I knew I had to do something to give back in any way I could to keep this amazing charity going to support others. It’s so important for all of us to do our bit in helping others who are going through difficult times.
The group raised an incredible £1,100 from the game, thanks to the hard work and generosity of everyone who took part.
Ciaran from DadsVDads said:
It was a pleasure working with the team and an honour to support this great charity. We appreciate Manny for getting us connected with Myton and we can’t wait to support the next event soon.
Louise Careless, Community Fundraiser at The Myton Hospices, said:
We can’t thank Manny, Gary, DadsVDads and everyone who took part and donated to the charity football game enough for their amazing support. We couldn’t provide our vital services without the help from our community, and fundraisers like this ensure we can continue to provide our care to people when they need us most. Thank you!
This year, it will cost £15.3 million to provide our services. We are a charity, we are not the NHS, and only 17% of our funding comes from the NHS, meaning we have to raise £12.7 million – that’s over £1 million each month! We rely heavily on our local community to ensure we can continue to be there for more people in Coventry and Warwickshire when they need us most.
If you’ve been inspired to get involved, why not round up your friends for a charity kickabout, bring the office together with a bake sale, or take on a sponsored challenge?
However you choose to play your part, you’ll be helping us make a big difference for patients and families across Coventry and Warwickshire.
