Double marathon man Jake is hitting the fundraising trail for The Myton Hospices in memory of his mum Debbie.

Fantastic fundraiser Jake Hunton is taking on not one, but two marathons in memory of his mum Debbie and to raise vital cash for The Myton Hospices and Cancer Research UK.

Former headteacher Debbie Hunton was cared for at ...

Coventry Myton Hospice in the final months of her life – she died peacefully in March 2019 at the age of 66, following a brave battle since her diagnosis in August 2018.

Mum to Jake and Jude and much-loved grandma, Debbie was an inspiration to those who knew her – through her normal life and post-diagnosis.

The family are ‘ever-grateful’ to Myton for the ‘amazing’ care and support Debbie and they were shown throughout their journey – and Jake was desperate to do something to show their gratitude and enable Myton to support others just like them.

Debbie even suggested he should do a marathon to raise vital funds.

So, instead of taking on one marathon – he decided to take on two just for good measure: The Manchester Marathon, which he completed on the 10th October for Cancer Research UK, and the Tissington Trail Marathon, which he is set to run on November 21 for Myton.

Jake said:

We were heartbroken when mum received her diagnosis, but so, so grateful to The Myton Hospices who cared for her and supported us all so amazingly.

Running the marathons in her memory and to raise vital money for Myton and Cancer Research is the very least I can do to say thank you for that amazing care we were all shown. We will never stop being grateful for the care mum received and I hope people will be inspired by our story to donate generously and help me raise as much money as I can to support other families just like us, now and in the future.
