Friends and family are organising a charity football day against a squad of Coventry City Football Club Legends

On Sunday 6th May, former Coventry City Football Club players will take on the Myton XI team in a football match at Hawkes Mill Social Club in Coventry to raise money for The Myton Hospices.

The event has been organised by friends of Ross, who died at Warwick Myton Hospice in August 2017. Ross’ brother Matty Blair, who currently plays for Doncaster Rovers, and their dad, and former Coventry City and Aston Villa player, Andy Blair will be joined by friends and family to form the Myton XI team.

And the Coventry City Former Players Association have announced some of the Coventry legends who will be playing on the day, including Dave Bennett , Micky Gynn, Dele Adebola, Lee Carsley, Andy Morrell, Marcus Hall, Gary McSheffrey and Dave Busst.

Organiser, James Keith, said:

Ross’ birthday was always around the same time as the FA Cup Final, and coming from a family with such a strong connection to football, a charity match seemed like the right thing to do. Myton means a lot to his closest friends and we want to raise the charity’s profile about the work they do. Not just for patients but also the families too.

People have been so good with their support for the event – from donating prizes to helping and saying they’ll come on the day. We’ve also got some football memorabilia and signed shirts which have been donated to auction off. We’re hoping the weather is also going to be on our side!

All are welcome to enjoy the afternoon of football and family fun from 1pm, with kick off set for 2pm.

Face painting, a bouncy castle, a raffle, BBQ and bar will feature along with other activities to keep the whole family entertained!

There is no entry fee but people are asked to make a donation on the door.

We cannot thank James and everyone who is involved in organising and supporting this event enough – everyone at Myton will have their fingers crossed for a beautiful sunny May Bank Holiday weekend!
