Retirement village residents walk their way to fundraising success for The Myton Hospices.

Charity-minded residents at Great Alne Park retirement village have raised over £2,500 by taking part in their own Virtual Walk for Myton.

Not wanting to let Covid-19 restrictions get in the way...

of raising money for an important cause, residents at the retirement village, owned by Inspired Villages, hit the fundraising trail and joined a ‘socially distanced’ charity walk.

Every May...

Myton is joined by hundreds of supporters who have signed up to the ‘Walk for Myton’ event to raise vital funds, often in memory of a loved one cared for at our Hospices in Coventry, Rugby and Warwick, or supported in their own home through our Myton at Home team.

With Great Alne Park residents determined that the show must go on, 30 villagers, aged between 81 and 64, split into groups of ‘hares’ and ‘tortoises’ to take on walks of three, six and nine miles around the village and surrounding areas.

Including a hugely generous £500 donation from Inspired Villages.

Ben Ling, Village Manager at Great Alne Park said:

It was great to see so many residents get involved in the Walk for Myton.

It’s a charity close to many of our hearts and a very important cause.

The walk was also a great chance for residents to explore the beautiful surroundings of the village and catch up with each other, socially distanced of course!

Chris Willmott, Corporate Fundraiser for The Myton Hospices, added:

We are so grateful to the residents of Great Alne Park for stepping into action to support Myton at a time that support has never been needed more and to Inspired Villages for their hugely generous donation.

While things have had to be very different because of Coronavirus, we have been blown away by the effort people have made to support us by hosting their own walks and raising vital money to enable us to continue our work supporting patients with a life-limiting illness across Coventry and Warwickshire.

Thank you all from everyone at Myton and, especially, thank you on behalf of all our patients and loved ones whose lives your support makes such a difference to.

It’s time to get into gear and get the fundraising cogs turning as The Myton Hospices marks the welcome return of its Cycle Challenge...

After Covid forced last year’s event into a virtual occasion – we’re delighted this year’s Cycle Challenge is a hybrid offering – meaning you can join us on the day (in a Covid-secure way of course) or take on the challenge on your own or in bubbles if you would prefer.
