Thousands of pounds have been raised to help people with a terminal illness in Coventry and Warwickshire.
A large team from accountancy firm Harrison Beale & Owen (HB&O) has taken part in a variety of activities to raise £6,500 for Midlands charity The Myton Hospices.
The charity cares for people aged 18 years and over with a terminal illness, and has hospices in Coventry, Rugby and Warwick.
Staff involved in fundraising included administrator Lisa Evans taking part in a sponsored swim off the coast of Tenby on Boxing Day, while tax manager Mark Johnson hosted a rock night with his band Rewind.
Other fundraising activities involved events organised by The Myton Hospices, which included a 50km bike ride, a 10 mile sponsored walk in June, and their annual Moonlight Walk in September.
HB&O staff also took part in a golf day, Christmas jumper day and cake sales.
The activity is part of HB&O’s fundraising initiative where each year staff select a charity of their choice to raise money for.
Phil Ewing, director at HB&O, has been involved with the team initiative since it was started 12 years ago.
Phil said: “Raising money for local charities is the best way for us to give something back to the community that we’ve been operating in for many years.
“We chose The Myton Hospices this year because a lot of our staff had experiences of their hospices via family and friends, and we felt it was a charity that deserved our support.
“Taking part in events to raise money is also great for team building and creates a feel-good factor by enabling members of staff to get to know each other a bit better outside of work.”
The money raised by the team at HB&O will go towards the running costs of the three hospices, including their In-Patient Units, Day Hospices, Myton at Home and family Bereavement Support Services.
Hannah Paulie, Corporate Fundraising at The Myton Hospices, added: “We have been overwhelmed by the dedication, commitment and support shown by all of the team at HB&O.
“It has been a pleasure to get to know the team and hope we may get the opportunity to work with them again at some point in the future! Thank you to everyone who has contributed to such an incredible total and well done!”
