Andy Staker was Master of the Lodge, which is based in Knowle, for September 2018 – September 2019, and chose to support Myton and Mind through the group’s fundraising. In his year as Master, he and his wife organised two Sunday Lunch fundraisers, a quiz night, a ladies’ weekend in Bournemouth, a river cruise and a Christmas fundraiser!
He said:
My dad received care at home and attended the Day Unit around 6 years ago. As Myton had been a fantastic support for my family, it was a pleasure to be able to give something back. Masons attend each other’s events so the money was raised through members of our Lodge, others, and their families.
We cannot thank Andy and the Lodge of Alliance enough for their support!
The money they raised, and sharing their own experience of Myton with others, enables us to continue to be there for people when they need us most, and hopefully dispels people’s misconceptions about hospice care!
