The Myton Hospice’s retail volunteer, Ken, is planning to clock up over 1,000 hours in voluntary work this year!

Shoppers at our Bedworth charity shop will recognise Ken as he volunteers his time for several hours every day! And because he loves helping out at the shop so much, he has decided to try and donate 1,250 hours of his time to Myton – the equivalent of 4 hours a day for 313 days.

My wife had cancer and was due to go to Coventry Myton Hospice but unfortunately died before she made it there. I decided to volunteer at the shop for her.

I love it at the shop, they are such a good team. The challenge started as a joke when I said I had made a resolution to volunteer for over 1,000 hours this year. I started keeping track of the hours in a book and by the end of February I should have hit 250 hours! The plan is to hit my target on the 26th September, which is my birthday.

This really touched me and has put a massive smile on my face, as I think it’s so lovely that someone wants to volunteer so much of their time to us.
