London Marathon runners raise over £28,000 for The Myton Hospices to fund vital patient care!

The London Marathon is one of the UK’s most well-known running events, and this year a dedicated group of runners took on the challenge in aid of The Myton Hospices, raising vital funds to support our services.

The 26.2-mile route is a huge physical and mental challenge, made even more demanding by the months of training, early mornings, long runs and sheer determination it takes just to reach the start line.

Completing the London Marathon is an incredible achievement in itself, but for our seven Myton runners, every mile meant even more.

Each of them took part with their own deeply personal connection to Myton, running in memory of loved ones, in gratitude for care received, and to help make sure other families can access our support when they need it most.

From the crowds lining the streets of London to the final steps across the finish line, their strength, commitment and compassion was truly inspiring. We are so proud of and grateful for everything they have done for Myton.

Together, they raised a total of £28,392.02, which could fund an Inpatient Bed at Myton for two months, helping us to continue providing specialist care to people and their families living with life-limiting illnesses.

Jason Levy, Director of Income Generation and Supporter Development at The Myton Hospices, said:

We are incredibly grateful to every single one of our London Marathon runners this year. Their determination, strength and commitment to fundraising for Myton has been fantastic. The time and effort that goes into both training and fundraising is huge, and we sincerely thank each and every one of them for their support.

It costs over £15 million every year to provide our services free of charge to our patients and their loved ones. As a charity, with less than 20% of our funding coming from the NHS, we must raise more than £12 million this year and we can't do it without amazing people like you!
