The Myton Hospices appeals for Santas and reindeer this Christmas

This Christmas, we are calling on friends and families from across Coventry and Warwickshire to join us at Pump Room Gardens in Leamington Spa for our annual Santa Dash.

On Sunday 11th December, hundreds of Santas and reindeer will descend on Pump Room Gardens ready to walk, jog or run the festive 5km route to raise money for The Myton Hospices.

Throughout the event, participants and supporters can enjoy an array of festive entertainment, including a live performance from Frozen characters Elsa and Anna, as well as a selection of tasty hot and cold refreshments courtesy of Red Banger and Coffee Architects. The Mayor of Whitnash, Simon Button, will also be making an appearance to MC this year’s event.

Nicky Docker and her two sons, Marley and Weller, are amongst those who have already signed up for this year’s event. Nicky explains, “I first heard about Myton’s Santa Dash when my son, Marley, suggested we take part after hearing about it in assembly. Marley has been looking for an opportunity to improve his fitness levels and I felt the Santa Dash was an achievable challenge for the whole family.

Nicky added, “I have always been aware of Myton and the care they provide so the Santa Dash seemed like a great opportunity for us to show our support for the local hospice and the work they do.

The registration fee for this year’s event is £15 for adults and £10 for children and includes a Santa suit for adults to wear on the day and a pair of reindeer antlers for children. Online registration for this year’s event closes at 5pm on Wednesday 7th December but those wanting to take part after this date are invited to register on the day from 8.30am where the registration fee will be increased by £5.

Those taking part in the Santa Dash are encouraged to raise as much sponsorship money as possible to help us raise our target of £32.000. This would pay for 237 children to attend a programme of 10 bereavement counselling sessions.

Participants who raise more than £50 for Myton will be entered into a prize draw to win £50 worth of Marks and Spencer vouchers.

We would like to thank Dennis Eagle for kindly sponsoring the Santa Dash. We would also like to thank BID Leamington for supporting this year’s event.
