Over 1,200 incredible supporters set a new Myton record at this year’s Santa Dash

Over 1,000 Santas and elves could be seen jingling all the way around Leamington Spa to raise money for The Myton Hospices!

Victoria Park was a sea of festive outfits for our biggest ever Santa Dash! This year more people than ever before signed up to our festive fundraising event, with even more people coming down on the day to register too, meaning over 1,200 people took part!

With festive music playing and the Christmas Market in the town being set up as dashers made their way around the 5k route, there was no escaping the Christmas spirit in Leamington.

Staff from PureGym led a warm-up to get everyone ready to cross the starting line and Simon Button was once again our festive MC! Red Banger were on hand to keep dashers and spectators fed and watered and Santa was waiting in his grotto to find out what the children of Warwickshire wanted for Christmas.

And we were thrilled to see so many dogs taking part in the event, and donning their best Christmas outfits for our first ever Best Dressed Dog competition!

Congratulations to Nico the King Charles Cavalier for coming first!

We are hopeful that everyone who took part has helped us to hit our £38,000 sponsorship target! Every penny makes such a big difference to the people we care for, and their families, over the festive period.

Assistant Events Manager at The Myton Hospices, Rebecca Richards said:

It was fantastic to see so many Santas, elves and dogs take part in this year’s Santa Dash to make it our biggest one yet! We cannot thank everyone enough for their support, without our participants, volunteers and suppliers, events like this would not be possible.

While most of us will be celebrating with family and friends on December 25th, there will be people spending Christmas in one of our hospices or receiving a visit at home from a Myton nurse – we wouldn’t be able to be there for these people without the money raised at our events. Everyone who has been involved with Santa Dash helps us spread some Myton magic at Christmas.

We want to say thank you to the Royal Spa Brass band, Red Banger, Nikki and Jamie from PureGym, Simon Button, Andy Cole, Jack from Waveform for PA support, Santa Claus for making the time to attend, photographer Andrew Llewellyn, Linsey May and Warwick Signs for providing our Santa’s Little Helpers chocolates, Warwick District Council, our wonderful event sponsors Dennis Eagle and all the volunteers and participants – we couldn’t put on such wonderful events without you all!
