We would like to say a great big thank you to Rugby Round Table for all the support you have given us this year.
Rugby Round Table have raised an amazing amount of money for The Myton Hospices through a variety of different fundraising activities.
£500 was donated at the beginning of our partnership with Rugby Round Table, with a further £660 raised through an auction at their 5th Charter Night Celebration since being founded in 1936.
Members have also volunteered their time to partake in bucket collections at local supermarkets, even sometimes dressing as our very own mascot, Monty the Bear, and a Snowman, raising £325.38!
They have also volunteered their time to marshal at a handful of our events, such as the Cycle Challenge and Santa Dash.
Rugby Round Table also host an annual fireworks event and a fantastic £7,500 was donated by the proceeds!
Our very own staff members Laura and Meg hosted a pumpkin shy game at the fireworks event and raised a further £181.03, making the total from this evening to be £7681.03!
Laura and Meg were also able to talk to the 6000+ attendees at this event to spread the word about Myton!
We would like to thank everyone involved with Rugby Round Table for all your fundraising efforts this year! A total of £9,266.41 has been raised!
Malcolm Freeman, Rugby Round Table Chairman 2021/22, said:
Rugby Round Table is about having fun, meeting new friends, trying something new and making a difference in the community.
Fundraising for local charities is the DNA of Rugby Round Table. Community fundraising and volunteering involves everything from beer festivals, firework events and Santa sleighs; to climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and 10k fun runs plus much more.
This year we have decided to support The Myton Hospices as Rugby Round Table’s Charity of the Year.
We are overwhelmed with the number of services that the charity provides and the funds required to keep the services free of charge.
Some members have experience of Myton and their services with their family members so we felt that such an important and supportive service would be ideal for our involvement with raising money and volunteering at Myton events.
Laura Newman, Partnerships Fundraiser here at The Myton Hospices, said:
We are so thankful and have loved working with Rugby Round Table throughout all their fundraising activities.
I would like to express thanks to Malcolm, Kevin as the Lead Organiser of their fireworks event, and John as the Lead on Collections.
£9,266.41 is an incredible amount and this will mean the world to our patients and their families.
Without the incredible support from organisations like this, we would not be able to provide our services free of charge to people, and their families, in Coventry and Warwickshire living with terminal illnesses.
