It was with the heaviest of hearts the events team had to cancel the Santa Dash due to heavy snowfall in the early hours before the event, but the safety of everyone taking part and our volunteers was their priority. Not ones to be defeated by the weather though, the team regrouped and rearranged the event in a mere four days!
The turnout...
Nearly 300 people arrived at Warwick Myton Hospice in their Santa and elf suits to take on the revised route. MC Simon Button kept participants entertained in between the festive songs playing and the brilliant Red Banger came along to feed hungry jogger and volunteers. Warwick and Leamington MP Matt Western did the honours of setting everyone off on the slightly longer 6k route.
Plenty of people have also been pulling on their Santa suits at home to complete their own Santa Dash; some went out in the snow and Julie Smith and her ‘Step it Up’ group completed the 5k at 6am one morning!
You can still complete your Santa Dash by...
Don’t forget you can still complete your Santa Dash in your own time, or join the Leamington Park Run, Newbold Comyn Park on Saturday 23rd December at 9am for their festive run!
A huge thank you to...
We want to say a massive thank you to the volunteers, Simon Button, Red Banger and MP Matt Western who all helped make our Santa Dash ‘take 2’ a wonderful success! Thank you also to event sponsors Dennis Eagle and to everyone who took part either on Sunday or in their own time!
Our target...
We are still hoping to raise £35,000 from your sponsorship efforts for the Santa Dash this year, which would fund the recruitment, training and salary of a nurse for one year – we can’t do it without you so please keep your donations coming!
