Tahlia is taking on a series of fundraising challenges to raise vital funds for The Myton Hospices

Tahlia is taking on a series of fundraising challenges to raise vital funds for The Myton Hospices.

As part of her efforts, she is walking 57 miles in memory of her mum, Zarita, who died at Coventry Myton Hospice in March 2024. Tahlia said:

The care they showed to mum is something that will stay with me forever. Mum wanted to be at Myton when she died and I am so glad her wishes were fulfilled. Everyone at Myton was so helpful during such a scary and sad time.

Alongside her walking challenge, Tahlia has been fundraising through a variety of activities, including cake sales, a swear jar, a ‘guess how many sweets in the jar’ competition and more. She added:

There will always be people who need the care and support Myton gave mum, so if I can help to make that possible, then I will do everything I can. Though I must say the walking is proving to be a challenge – I set myself quite the optimistic distance and fitting it in around my schedule has been tough! But seeing everyone be so kind and donate to the cause is making it worth it.

Tahlia has raised £1,487.50 – smashing her target of £1,200

Sophie Wardle, Events Fundraiser at The Myton Hospices, said:

Tahlia’s dedication is truly inspiring and we are incredibly grateful for everything she is doing in memory of her mum. Fundraisers like Tahlia are at the heart of Myton – their kindness and commitment ensure we can continue to provide the expert, compassionate care our community relies on.

Did you know…?

This year, it will cost £15.3 million to continue providing our services free of charge to patients and their families across Coventry and Warwickshire.

We are a charity, not the NHS, and we receive only 17% of our funding from the NHS, meaning we have to raise £12.7 million – that’s more than £1 million every month.

We rely on the support from our community to enable us to care for people who need it most. We are incredibly grateful to fundraisers like Tahlia who make our work possible.
