With breath-taking performances from the 50-piece orchestra, led and organised by conductor Brian Chappell, Orchestra for an Occasion and our incredible supporters came together to raise an amazing £7,730 for The Myton Hospices!
Taking place on Saturday 17th May at Warwick School, a full professional orchestra of 50 talented musicians took to the stage to deliver an afternoon of powerful, moving performances, led by conductor Brian Chappell. The audience was treated to a programme that spanned stage, screen and classical favourites, including pieces from Gladiator, The Greatest Showman, Oliver, Downton Abbey, and more.
Brian Chappell, Conductor of Orchestra for an Occasion, said:
Bringing this concert to life with such talented musicians, for such an important cause, is always a privilege. I’m so proud of what we have achieved together for Myton.
Mary Rhodes, presenter of BBC Midlands Today, kindly introduced the concert, bringing her local connection and warmth to the occasion. Her presence set the tone for the very special community event.

For the second year running, the concert was generously sponsored by Roger Medwell MBE DL, in memory of his beloved wife Patricia who was cared for by our Myton at Home team. Roger’s incredible ongoing support ensures Patricia’s legacy lives on through the care provided to others in our community facing life-limiting illnesses.
We were delighted to be joined by Margaret Kite, one of our dedicated volunteers, who took on a bucket collection after the show and raised an incredible £729.60!
Michelle from our Lottery team worked her magic during the event and signed up 13 new supporters for our Lottery. These new members bring a regular income projected to be worth £780 every year, helping to fund our services for the future.
Louise Careless, Community Fundraiser at The Myton Hospices, said:
We’re so grateful to Brian, Roger, Mary, all of the orchestra, and every single person who made this concert possible. Thanks to the generosity and support of everyone involved, we can continue to provide our compassionate, specialist palliative and end of life care for people across Coventry and Warwickshire. The money raised will help us ensure Myton is ‘Here for everyone, now and forever’.
We are a charity, we are not the NHS, and we have to raise £12.7 million of the £15.3 million it costs this year to continue providing our services free of charge to our patients and their loved ones. Whether you performed, sponsored, donated or applauded from the audience: thank you.
