The Hospital Saturday Fund supports The Myton Hospices Western Medical Acupuncture Service

We are incredibly grateful to The Hospital Saturday Fund for their generous donation of £2,000 to support the development of our Western Medical Acupuncture service, expanding our therapy services for our patients.

Since May 2024, The Myton Hospices has been offering acupuncture as a therapeutic option for some patients. This treatment is available to any known Myton patient, whether they are staying on our Inpatient Unit or accessing support through our Patient & Carer Wellbeing service. Acupuncture is provided as a course of six sessions.

Every patient receiving acupuncture at Myton is asked to track their symptoms throughout their treatment, and so far, every patient has reported measurable benefits. Whilst often associated with pain relief, acupuncture has also helped alleviate symptoms such as hot flushes, constipation, nausea and fatigue, bringing much needed comfort to our patients.

With only one of our doctors currently trained in this area, this funding will enable us to train an additional doctor, allowing us to offer this treatment to more of our patients, as a valuable addition to the holistic care we provide.

Dr Liz explained all the aspects of the treatment and I felt very comfortable and supported during my sessions. I have significantly less pain now which has made me feel much more positive in myself.
