During June the Myton Hospices has welcomed local health and care leaders to its hospices as part of ongoing conversations about the future of hospice care across Coventry and Warwickshire, highlighting the vital role specialist palliative and end of life care plays within the wider health and care system.
With demand for hospice services increasing, strengthening collaboration across the health and care system is more important than ever to ensure local people can access the specialist support they need.
As the only hospice specialist palliative care provider serving people across Coventry and Warwickshire, The Myton Hospices works alongside NHS, hospice and community partners to provide compassionate and expert care. By supporting people in their own homes, within Myton’s hospices and across local communities, Myton plays a vital role in helping patients and their families receive the right care in the right place at the right time.
The Myton Hospices welcomed: Crishni Waring, Chair of NHS Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board (ICB), and Simon Trickett, Chief Executive Officer of NHS Coventry and Warwickshire ICB; Sue Noyes, Chair of University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust and Eamonn Kelly, Chair of Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Partnership Trust to Coventry Myton Hospice, while Sue Whelan, Joint Chair of George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust and South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust, visited Warwick Myton Hospice.
During the visits guests met with Sarah Faulkner, Chair of Trustees Ruth Freeman, Chief Executive and Jodie Morris Director of Patient & Family Services. They toured the hospices, spent time with members of Myton’s clinical teams gaining a deeper understanding of the specialist palliative and end of life care provided every day.
The Myton Hospices also shared its strategic priorities for 2026/27 and how the organisations may work more closely together for the benefit of patient care in the future.

These visits provide a valuable opportunity to showcase the incredible work our teams do, discuss some of the challenges facing hospices, and explore with the NHS our shared commitment to delivering the very best care to patients and their families

As demand for hospice care increases, The Myton Hospices is also experiencing growing financial pressures. It costs more than £15 million every year to provide services free of charge to patients and their loved ones. As a charity, with less than 20% of income coming from NHS funding, Myton must raise more than £12 million annually through fundraising, donations and other charitable income.
