The Myton Hospices spreads the magic of Christmas across Coventry and Warwickshire once again this festive season, raising over £13,750

Santa and his elves dashed through local streets, popular shopping spots and even stopped off at Coventry City Football Club, spreading festive cheer and raising vital funds to help us continue providing specialist palliative and end of life care for patients and their families living with life-limiting illnesses, this Christmas and beyond.

With the Christmas rush behind them and the final totals counted, Santa and his elves can reveal that the Santa Sleigh has raised an incredible £13,759.16 – with every pound donated helping to make a real difference.

Louise Careless, Community Fundraiser at The Myton Hospices, said:

We really enjoyed taking Santa and his Sleigh around Coventry and Warwickshire and hope we helped spread some festive cheer! Thank you to everyone who came out to see Santa and donated to the cause. With your support, we can continue to care for people when they need us most, now and in the future.

Of course, none of this would be possible without Santa’s amazing helpers. Paul from Squab Removals not only sponsors the event but also supports the sleigh routes by towing the sleigh while dressed as an elf.

Thank you to Steve and George for ensuring Santa makes his journey from the North Pole to meet everyone along the way – we couldn’t do it without you both!

Johnsons Coaches kindly provided minibuses to transport our collectors on two of the routes, with General Manager Ash Brown and the drivers supporting us throughout the evenings.

We’d like to say thank you to Andy Bye for co-leading two of the sleigh routes and for providing valuable support with route planning each year.

Thank you to the Chase Meadow Residents Association, including Jane, Clive, their members, friends, and family, for organising the Chase Meadow route for us annually, and to the 3rd Warwick Scout Group who supported with bucket collections on the night.

Thank you to George and Liz from Warwick Town Council for hosting Small Business Saturday, a wonderful market celebrating fabulous local businesses, with Santa making a special appearance and proceeds supporting Myton.

A special thank you goes to Coventry City Football Club for hosting Santa and his Sleigh at your festive home match on 13th December – your supporters truly are the best!

We have also enjoyed working in partnership with People Arches Ltd, the company that runs McDonald’s on Emscote Road, welcoming Santa and his Sleigh to greet customers on Tuesday 23rd December.

We are grateful to our supermarket and local shop supporters for donating tubs of chocolates for Santa to share and for allowing us to visit their stores. Thanks also go to the Co-op on Woodloes for kindly hosting a meet and greet in their car park, and to The Woodloes Tavern for providing delicious mince pies and mulled wine.

Of course, a big thank you also go to our wonderful volunteers, staff, and their friends and families who supported the sleigh routes and the events at local supermarkets with bucket collections to help raise vital funds.

Finally, a huge thank you goes to all the amazing people Santa and his elves met in the community. Your support and generosity enables us to continue providing our services free of charge to patients and their families across Coventry and Warwickshire when it matters most. Thank you!
