The Myton Hospices staff conquer the Sahara Desert

On 19th November, two of our fantastic Myton at Home nursing assistants, Jacquie Bird and Nicola Hughes, and two of our wonderful retail staff, Sarah Wallam and Carol O’Reilly, headed off to the Sahara Desert to complete the Sahara Trek Challenge.

“Words cannot describe the past few days. Such a surreal breath-taking experience. Feels like I’m dreaming! I have trekked around 100k the past 4 days with fabulous people- something that will stay with me forever”

These four courageous women successfully completed the 4 day trek across the unforgiving landscape, enduring intense Saharan temperatures throughout.

Since completing the trek, Sarah has said, “Words cannot describe the past few days. Such a surreal breath-taking experience. Feels like I’m dreaming! I have trekked around 100k the past 4 days with fabulous people- something that will stay with me forever.”

Between the four of them they have raised an outstanding £15,000, with the nurses smashing their £10,000 target!

This money will enable us to continue providing expert care to terminally ill patients and their loved ones across Coventry and Warwickshire. We are incredibly proud to be able to call them members of the Myton family and for raising such a fantastic amount of money for Myton.
