We would like to say a huge thank you to Nationwide Windows and Doors for their incredible generosity and support of The Myton Hospices.
At a time when hospices across the UK are facing immense financial challenges and increasing demand for services, support like this makes a real and lasting difference to the care we are able to provide.
Across the hospice sector, many have been forced to reduce services and cut staff, but at The Myton Hospices, we are working tirelessly to protect the care and support our patients and their families rely on.
We receive only 17% of our funding from the NHS, meaning we need to raise £12.7 million this year alone in order to continue providing our services free of charge. With both costs and demand continuing to rise, we are constantly seeking ways to save money without compromising the quality of our care.
One way we are doing this is through gifts in kind – support that goes beyond financial contributions to include donated goods, services and resources.
At the end of 2025, we completed a major project at our Warwick Myton Hospice, replacing patio doors and windows in 14 of our inpatient rooms, along with additional doors and windows throughout our Inpatient Unit.
Nationwide Windows and Doors very generously donated the time, people and materials needed to complete this work.
This project, which would have cost Myton around £40,000 of vital funding, was completed free of charge, making it the largest gift in kind of its type we have ever received.
As well as improving the comfort and living environment of our patients, the new energy-efficient doors and windows will reduce our energy costs, delivering long-term savings that can be redirected straight back into patient care.
This combination of immediate and lasting impact is helping us remain resilient in the face of limited statutory funding and increasing pressure on voluntary income.
John Whalley, Managing Director at Nationwide Windows and Doors, said:
It has been an absolute pleasure for us to provide this gift in kind to The Myton Hospices. Being able to supply the new much needed energy efficient windows and doors is our way of supporting an organisation that makes a real, tangible difference to people across our community. We know how deeply hospice care impacts the lives of patients and their families, and we’re proud that this contribution will help Myton now and in the future.
Martin Watts, Corporate Fundraiser at The Myton Hospices, said:
We are incredibly grateful to Nationwide Windows and Doors for their outstanding generosity. This gift in kind enables us to free up vital resources and focus them where they matter most – on patient care – ensuring that people and their families across Coventry and Warwickshire can access the care they need and deserve.
From professional services to tangible items and materials to expertise, gifts in kinds of all shapes and sizes and forms have a lasting impact.
If you or your organisation are able to support The Myton Hospices with a gift in kind, we would love to hear from you.
