On Saturday 28th September, brave fundraisers took on the thrilling challenge of abseiling down Coventry Cathedral in support of The Myton Hospices. The day saw participants push their limits, raising vital funds to support our crucial work in providing palliative and end of life care for people across Coventry and Warwickshire.
The event was a massive success, raising over £61,000!
We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who made the day as fantastic as it was. The incredible volunteers worked tirelessly, helping with registration, handing out medals, and selling merchandise and refreshments. Their dedication ensured that the day ran smoothly and was enjoyable for all involved.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to MTD Training for sponsoring the event, taking part with some daredevil colleagues and individually fundraising, raising an amazing £6,058 in total!
We would also like to thank Reddit who fully funded 75 abseil places for local people to take part from their Community Funds Programme.
A special thank you to Paul Sanders, who organised a series of live performances, creating an amazing atmosphere for both participants and spectators. We would also like to thank the expert abseil team from Eight Point Two for guiding our participants, especially those feeling nervous, through the descent safely and confidently.
You may have noticed our fantastic photographer, Simon Coates Photography, who captured the special and brave moments of the day. Take a look at the photos below!
Marc Dwyer, Challenge Events Fundraiser at The Myton Hospices, said:
We are so grateful for the amazing people who took on this incredible challenge. We’ve recently launched our Urgent Appeal to raise £240,000, so more people in Coventry and Warwickshire can access a Hospice Bed when they need it.
Our local community's support is crucial in helping us reach as many people as possible living with life-limiting illnesses. We would like to thank everyone who participated, volunteered and donated. Their efforts will help us to continue providing essential palliative and end of life care to our patients and their families.
Thank you to everyone who supported our abseil to make it such a success! We have to raise £11 million this year to continue providing our care. We can’t do it without people like you!
