Linda Heath started working at Myton as a Bank Receptionist at Warwick Myton Hospice in 2016. She then became a permanent member of staff in 2018, monitoring Warwick’s reception every Friday.
Linda commented on her time at Myton:
I like to be amongst people and talk to the visitors. Being on reception, people like to talk to us. It’s a privilege to be able to be play a small role in the comfort Myton can provide and it’s nice to feel like you’re doing something useful and meaningful!
Linda’s connection to Myton grew deeper in 2023, when her husband, Phil, was cared for by our Myton at Home team.
Linda added:
Myton at Home were a lifesaver. They got us through those last few difficult days. It was almost a full circle experience; working here, I knew of all the services Myton provides and knew it would be the best place to be if we were ever in need. For Phil to then be cared for by the team was rather lovely.
They scooped us up, got us through and most importantly made my husband as comfortable as possible. They just took all the pressure off.
Linda turned 70 in December and wanted to raise some money to give back for the amazing care Phil received. She thought now would be the perfect time to conquer our Abseil down Coventry Cathedral!
It was a combination of turning 70 and grieving, I needed to do something to shake myself up. I had seen it advertised in the past and thought I could do it, but never had the courage or purpose. This year, I decided it was probably the best time. With encouragement from my children and colleagues, I signed up before I could change my mind!
So far, Linda has raised an amazing £350 for Myton! We couldn’t be prouder of her bravery, courage and determination!
Linda said:
I’ve told a few people I’m doing the abseil and they think I am crazy! That’s why they’re sponsoring me!
Myton is a charity worth supporting - we are so lucky to have such a fantastic variety of services that Myton provides on our doorstep in Coventry and Warwickshire. That’s why I’m stepping out of my comfort zone to raise much needed funds! I just hope I don’t let myself down now!
