We are delighted to be finalists in the Royal Society for Public Health & Wellbeing Awards!

We are thrilled to announce that The Myton Hospices has been selected as a finalist for the prestigious Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) Health & Wellbeing Awards! This is the UK’s premier awards scheme for promoting health and wellbeing, and being named a finalist is a testament to our Employee & Volunteer Health and Wellbeing Team’s commitment to our staff and volunteers.

Our recognition in the Health & Wellbeing in Workplaces category stems from the comprehensive and tailored wellbeing programme we’ve developed to support our team members and volunteers across our sites within Coventry and Warwickshire, including our 25 shops.

One of the standout features of our approach is the Employee Wellness Pulse Survey, conducted every 2-3 months. This survey allows us to gather real-time feedback from our workforce, ensuring that our wellbeing initiatives are aligned with their most pressing needs. Based on this feedback, we’ve launched several targeted projects.

The survey highlighted the need for greater menopause support. In response, we introduced menopause café style support groups for staff and volunteers to share stories, obtain resources and access additional Myton support.

We have developed a detailed menopause toolkit alongside a variety of resources in collaboration with The University of Surrey and The Menopause Support Charity, as well as specialised training for managers. These efforts ensure that our team members have the resources and support they need during this important life stage.

The Myton Hospices also know physical health, stress and financial wellbeing are priorities for our staff and volunteers. Physical health initiatives include a Cycle to work scheme, a couch to 5k programme and becoming the first hospice to gain access to the free #DoingOurBit fitness, health and wellness platform.

To help alleviate stress, we have introduced clinical supervision and reflective practice for patient-facing teams, run stress awareness and selfcare campaigns with initiatives targeted at helping people build their own tools for minimising stress, and developed specific training and guidance for supporting staff experiencing bereavement.

We have worked with the Money & Pension service, enabled people to access professional will-writing support, negotiated a reduction in our pension scheme fees and continue to work on increasing knowledge and engagement in pension provision.

Since launching our wellbeing programme, we have seen great engagement from our employees and volunteers with the initiatives, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. This engagement demonstrates the significant impact our programme is having on the health and wellbeing of our workforce.

We are incredibly proud to be recognised for our efforts in supporting the wellbeing of our staff and volunteers. Being a finalist for the RSPH Health & Wellbeing Awards is an honour that underscores our ongoing commitment to creating a supportive and resilient workforce.
