Senior relief manager, Anthony Dwyer, to tell us what he loves about working for the retail team at Myton.
I joined The Myton Hospices in August this year. It was the best move I have made for a number of reasons. The team are a real family. You can call anyone in the retail or greater Myton team and if they don't have the answer they will find it. Everyone in Myton matters from patients to volunteers to paid staff. It is very refreshing. You have autonomy to make the right decisions for your shop. It is also refreshing to work in an environment where days off/holidays are important and covered by a great team of relief and bank managers.
I was a shop manager in charity retail previously and a department/store manager in food retail. I am now a senior relief manager at Myton so I get to travel across Coventry and Warwickshire to cover shops whilst managers have days off and holidays. I also support managers if they need to focus on a particular area of their shop and help with new store openings. There is great variety in whatever position you are considering at Myton. It is hard work but you get great job satisfaction seeing the money raised support local people and their families when they need us most.
