We were delighted to invite our volunteers from all roles in our hospices, shops and community to special thank you events at each of our hospices to celebrate the time, energy and commitment that they give to Myton.
Festivities kicked off at our Rugby Myton Support Hub, where volunteers tested their skills in a lightning round of pictorial word games over mince pies and bucks fizz. Trustee Val Robson and Chair Sarah Faulkner joined Ruth Freeman, our CEO, to chat with volunteers and staff, over plenty of laughter and good conversation.
The fun continued at Warwick Myton Hospice with a fiercely competitive Christmas Quiz and the afternoon was made even more special by a visit from our very own Father Christmas, thanks to our wonderful volunteer Steve Webley.
At Coventry Myton Hospice, volunteers enjoyed an evening of music, quizzes, a raffle, festive tunes and, of course, plenty of mince pies. Father Christmas also made a special appearance with our wonderful volunteer, George Wilkinson.
Around 90 volunteers were hosted by the Volunteering Team and People Services elves, making sure everyone that was attended felt recognised and celebrated. A highlight of the events was a poem dedicated to our volunteers, performed by Amy Rugg from the Volunteering Team. Ruth Freeman delivered a festive address at each gathering, joined by our newly appointed Chair of Trustees, Sarah Faulkner.
Kerrie Grayman-Smith, Head of Volunteering, said:
We are so grateful to each and every one of our volunteers. Your dedication truly makes a difference to the people we support, ensuring we can be here for more people and their families living with life-limiting illnesses, when they need us most. Thank you for all that you do!
A big thank you also goes to local businesses who via our Community Fundraising Team provided most of the food and drink for the events, we also received three vouchers from the Coventry Village Hotel, which were raffled at the celebration events.
Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do at Myton. Across the organisation, over 1,200 volunteers give their time to make a real difference every day.
From supporting patients and families, to helping in our shops, at events, in the community and behind the scenes, we simply couldn’t provide our vital services without them.
